Learn to Dive with SiDive and find Nemo in the amazing Underwater realm of Cebu in the Philippines. Diving in Cebu is fabulous with water temperatures between 26 - 29 degrees, beautiful coral and thousands of species of fish. It really is a great place to get your diving licence and to enjoy the freedom that only diving can offer.
SiDive Instructors conduct PADI diving courses. All dive certificate courses are carried out by renewed PADI instructors with many years experience diving in the Philippines. To go Scuba Diving anywhere in the World you need a diving certificate. PADI is the biggest diving organisation and certifies more divers than any other organisation. The most popular course is the PADI Open water Diver course.
The PADI Open Water Course takes 2 to 3 days and certifies the participants to dive to a depth of 18m with a buddy.
It will take 2 days only if you complete the PADI learning ( included in the course price) at home before you come.
Or it will take 3 days to do the course if you do the theory here.
When you are certified you do not have to dive with a PADI professional. It is the most popular of all PADI’s programs and is recognized worldwide.
The course consists of either independent study of dive theory through learning or classroom study, confined water training in shallow water in a protected part of the sea on our housewife at Kontiki and four Open Water Dives in the Sea.
Courses run 7 days a week and we aim to fit in with your schedule. The first part is the theory which usually takes 5-6 hours and can be done either online before you come ( e-learning) or in a classroom setting with an Instructor. If you do the e-learning before you come it will save you doing the theory here and save you a day of your holiday. With the e-learning completed before you come the diving part of the course can be completed in two days.
If you have any medical issues like Asthma or Ear problems, or you are on medications or you have Diabetes or a history of those things or any other medical issues you must let us know before you sign up. You may need to get a Doctor's clearance to dive.
You also need to bear in mind that you cannot fly within 18 hours of the last dive. So that usually means not until 9AM the day following the last dive.
On the first day of the dive course when we actually get into the water we enter into the pool or confined water in the Sea at 9:30 AM where we complete the first confined water session. This is then followed by your first Open Water dive. Then we have lunch. After lunch we all go back into the pool to finish confined sessions 2-5, learning the rest of the skills. Then we will complete Open Water Dive 2 before exiting the water and heading back to the dive shop to rinse our gear, listen to the debriefing and then get a shower before getting dressed and heading back to your hotel.
The following day we normally start at 9:30AM and complete the remaining two Open water dives: Open Water Dive 3 and Open Water Dive 4.
On this day we sometimes, but not always, take a boat trip usually lasting from about 9:30AM-3PM. During this day we complete the remaining two Open water dives in the Ocean from the boat. The boat cost is divided equally between all the participants on the boat. With 6 persons on the boat expect an additional payment of php600 + php100 Sanctuary fees per person. This is the only additional charge and is optional.
The Open water Diver course is always a memorable event.
